All I can say is, "Don't be a statistic". Lawn mower safety is not child's play. Lawn Mower safety doesn't "just happen". It is a pattern of behavior that leads to safe operation of a lawn mower. This also applies to other power equipment. Se safe folks.

Man Fatally Injured In Lawn Mower Accident79-Year-Old Dies Day After AccidentANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -- A 79-year-old man died Thursday following a riding lawn-mower accident the day before.
Neighbors say Jim Caldwell had just picked up his John Deere mower from the repair shop and was preparing to unload it at his home on Dockside Way, when the accident happened in The Shoals lakeside community on Lake Hartwell.
“Apparently it got away from him and he dropped it," said Joe Beck, a longtime neighbor and friend of Caldwell’s.
The mower knocked Caldwell to the ground, causing a serious head injury.
Beck said Caldwell was initially knocked unconscious and Caldwell’s wife, Kim, called 911.
Caldwell regained consciousness enough for Beck to talk to him.
"Just to find out how he was doing and tell him what happened from my perspective," he said.
Rescue crews worked to stabilize Caldwell in an ambulance and loaded him into the Med Trans One helicopter. He was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he died Thursday afternoon.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 200,000 people are hurt in lawnmower-related accidents each year. Last year, more than 14,000 injuries were reported from a riding lawn mower.
